My name is Alyna Rodriguez. I’m 12 years old and the document below is a report I made for my school’s magazine. I’m originally from Puerto Rico and I’m a big animal lover. I met up with Bonnie and she told me to send you my report and a picture of some of my dogs and family so you can post it in the website. Thanks for your time, hope you enjoy the report!

Listen to Your Heart and Learn to Look with Your Eyes, Give a Second Chance to Animals in Need!
A black heart only shows a dark soul. People do dumb things and make mistakes but mistreating a pet should be one of the biggest mistakes of all. These animals don’t deserve that and although is part of the Law 67 and Law 304 poor animals are still beaten, mistreated, hit and thrown in the streets for no reason at all. Some live poor fates yet some get the help for what for them is an angel. An angel sent to love and to care for them and that angel can be you. Believe it or not you can safe the life of an animal that needs you, needs your help. Thousands of animals die every day whether is from hunger, thirst, or simply destiny. Well, who said destiny can’t be changed? Who said there is such thing as impossible? These animals do not have many options, some only option is to welcome death. We can give them more options from a better house to a better family and a better life. Second Chance Animal Rescue as well as other organizations and animal shelters give these animals those options, gives them reason, faith of having a better life and a better destiny. This animal shelter located in Villalba, Puerto Rico, rescues satos from the streets who have been thrown or mistreated at one point and have ended there to find their own path through life. They try to give these animals all the medical attention, food, toys, hope and love they need. Adopting an animal brings a lot of responsibilities and before making such decision you should really stop and think about it and ask yourself: Am I willing to bring him for his regular check ups with the vet? Will I give him all the attention and love he will need? Am I willing to clean up after him? Do I have the time to take care, feed, bathe, and play with him? Do I have enough room in my house for him? Is my house a safe environment for him and is he adequate to be around kids? To adopt a cute, playful dog in this specific shelter you will be charged for approximately $300 for both young and old. These charges are due because they already have been given all the vaccinations and medical needs they need such as heart worm disease check ups, rabies and have been neutered and sterilized. Also, to make sure this dogs and puppies are in the right hands they research your past vet records to see if you were responsible and gave all the medical attention your past pet needed and if you have taken them to their monthly/yearly check ups. In total there are three things they look at most and if those three are a “no”, then you won’t be getting a dog from them for the dog’s own safety and health. This shelter is currently home for about 100 dogs so a lot of money is spent by buying food, cleaning supplies, blankets, shampoo, and other basics. Do to this; any donation will be greatly appreciated. By: Alyna Dianne Rodriguez Aleman

CAPACITY!
This lucky pack of eleven crossed paths with a few park rangers who knew they would never survive alone. They brought them to our doors and pleaded for our help. Even though we are past capacity and couldn't imagine where we would tuck them, we couldn't send them away. They're all doing well and growing daily, but will be with us for quite a while. The cost of their medical care, vaccinations, sterilization and food will far exceed our abilities without your support. Please help by donating today.

ST. THOMAS or BUST! This was Joy's final flight home to her forever family. Just a short trip, but an important one. Many thanks to her new family for opening up their heart and home to one of our island rescues.

We sat patiently in the intersection where we were dumped. Waiting for something to happen....death, life...anything. We would have not lived much longer, we would have each suffered our own painful death. Bonnie crossed our path and gave us the greatest gift...a chance.

After over twelve years of unpredictable days...never knowing what kind of emergency call we may receive, what rescue we may stumble upon, how each hurricane season will effect us and the most common question may seem simple, but the outcome is always the same....what's in the cardboard box on the side of the road? Sadly, the answer is almost always....puppies. It's the number that varies, the age that continues to shock us or the condition that they are in that breaks our hearts. We do what we can with the limited resources that we have, but can't do it alone. We need help....these rescues are most often with us for four months and even more as they complete our pre-adoption protocol.
Whatever you can donate, large or small, it all adds up. Our website is complete with Papal to make an immediate donation and it is updated daily with new rescues, survival stories and our many successes.
Thank you~ Second Chance Rescue Team
